Our Urban Jam consist of a number of themed zones, where stunned clients are asked to sample Human Beatbox and Rap, Graffiti, Junk Percussion and Street Moves. Urban Jam is a co-creation with our very good friends Mind Adrenaline, another great creative corporate activity company. We have worked together for over six years in Europe and the USA to create bespoke teambuilding activities.
Bringing that young, edgy attitude and street spirit to life on stage makes this a spectacular team building activity. Groups get a taster of each zone before perfecting the last rotation to performance standard. We then create a spectacular finale with one fully integrated show.
Imagine the fun and games recently when one client wanted to do all of this outside of the main venue, on a mountain in Wales, with well over 300 staff!
On the day, we used four huge marquees, each prepared by the relevant urban experts, with Hip-Hop blasting as the coaches arrived. The welcome briefing, led by Simon Payne, was held in front of a thirty-foot-long, ten-foot-high graffiti wall. Then, once in their T-shirts and baseball caps, off went the participants to their first zones.
The controversial street art of Graffiti is always of great interest. Learning the history and techniques from our experts, and then expressing themselves on the wall, was an immediate hit with the groups. Whether using the colour spray tins, or coming up with individual ‘tags’, this was a unique experience.
Learning the internal sounds and effects possible from just the human voice, to simulate a drum machine, was not only revealing but hilarious fun to watch. Added to some unique rap created by participants, we had a session that was a fantastic chuckle and challenge.
Our Street Moves crew had the group popping and bopping in seconds. Members of our crew have appeared on countless music videos and tours and in Urban Jam will teach your group a specially prepared street dance routine. This gives an insight into the skill and commitment needed to become professional in this field.
Participants couldn’t believe the music, rhythm and groove that was achieved by using nothing more than a sea of junk percussion. Our rhythm experts created a junk yard orchestra in no time at all. From the step ladders to the supermarket trolley, or the industrial bin to the watering cans, this was all about getting results from rubbish!
On our mountain in Wales, all four of these urban skills came together to create a grand finale performance on a stage, culminating in the senior management coming to thank everyone for taking a leap of faith, trying something very new and pulling it off successfully.
